Nurik will share insights, experience and directives on creating and fostering technology businesses that go beyond the bottom line and aim to change the human experience

D.C. Startup Week is a five-day celebration of the small business and startup community in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. It educates aspiring and established founders alike on best practices, highlights central struggles to small businesses and showcases how to access the dynamic network of local investors and resources.

Spurring exponential growth is not just hard, it’s near impossible. Those that accomplish this lofty goal almost always have more in mind than profit margins and cashing out. What they have in common is a laser focus on a corporate mission that is bigger than an individual business, and a burning, insatiable desire to disrupt and change industry, economy, and ultimately, humanity. Gabriel Marketing Group CEO and tech industry veteran Leah Nurik will highlight some of the world’s most innovative and mission-focused tech companies, providing analysis on why having lofty goals–mixed with creative and impeccable product, customer service, marketing and PR strategies–contributes to growth, success and seismic industry shifts.

Leah Nurik, founder and CEO of Gabriel Marketing Group (GMG), is an award-winning marketing strategist with 20 years of experience in the venture capital-backed high-tech industry. Throughout her career, she has worked with more than 300 early-stage companies and held senior strategic roles at public and private SaaS software and hardware companies including Symbol Technologies and Motorola.

Under Nurik’s strategic leadership, GMG has doubled the number of employees, tripled the number of clients and led 13 of its clients to successful exits through profitable acquisitions since 2014. GMG has also experienced a 65 percent CAGR over the last four years, and was recently named one of the “Best Places to Work” in D.C. by the Washington Business Journal.

Nurik has spoken at various conferences and events on business, entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing and PR. She is the recipient of numerous marketing, sales, writing and industry awards, including being named CEO of the Year for Boutique PR Agencies, receiving multiple Stevie awards for women in business and being named to PR News’ prestigious “One to Watch” list. DC Inno recently recognized her as one of the “Top 10 Most Powerful Women in the D.C. Startup Community” as well as one of Washington D.C.’s “50 on Fire” in 2014. In 2016, Nurik was honored as a SmartCEO 2016 BRAVA Award winner for her dynamic involvement with the D.C. tech community and her charitable work in the community. Most recently, she was named a U.S. “Gamechanger of the Year” by ACQ Magazine’s ACQ5 Global Awards 2017.
